All Systems Are Half Go!

Due to the funeral taking place on Saturday, and the funeral dinner thereafter in fellowship hall, we are going to modify the Saturday schedule just a bit.

Men - prayer breakfast remains ON. Don't miss it.

The spring cleaning activities are being curtailed a bit, though. All of the inside cleaning work is being cancelled until after Easter. We'll reschedule that. Several men will be working to get the parking lot and driveway cleaned up before Easter, though, and so if you want to help with that outside work, that is still on. Bring a rake and meet them at 10:00 in the parking lot.

All Systems Are Go!

Don't forget the busy Saturday ahead of us!

Men's Prayer Breakfast - 8:00 in Fellowship Hall at the church. Men, you really really don't want to miss out on this!

Annual Spring Cleaning day - 10:00 at the church. Some of the ladies who would normally be faithfully working on this activity cannot do so this time because of a funeral dinner which will be served at the church at 3:00 PM. We could use some others to fill in for them while they are working on that. All cleaning activities will have to be completed and everything set up for the funeral dinner by 2:00 PM, so the time commitment is not that much! And the workload is not that much this year. We must get the parking lot and grounds ready for Easter Sunday next week, and we hoped to get a couple of new Sunday School rooms ready to go for some possible new classes. Wear your work clothes and give the Lord an hour of your time. His house will look Easter-ready in no time!

And now... the DATE

When was that game night again? Oh yeah... this Saturday, March 20th, starting at 6:00 PM.

Game Night

Has it really been a year since our last game night in Fellowship Hall?

YES! And that means it's time for another one!

Bring your favorite board game, your favorite munchies, and join us in Fellowship Hall for one of the greatest evenings of fun we have all year long. Sloppy Joes and Pop will be provided, and will make the perfect compliment to whatever you and others choose to bring.

This is a family evening. Bring the kids! Prizes will be awarded for everything you can think of!

Food, fun, and fellowship with other believers. There's just no better way to spend a Saturday evening than that. And bring along your friends, too. Let them see that Christians, of all people on earth, have reason to have fun and enjoy life.

Correction - SPRING AHEAD!!!!!

Sigh... apparently the pastor is unaware that it is spring instead of fall, and that we set our clocks AHEAD instead of BACK this time of year. If you show up 2 hours late for service tomorrow, you can blame the pastor!

From the Pulpit

We are working on a new church website that will provide a few more capabilities than this blog. The plan is for this blog to remain in use as the church "news" site, with the new site providing a slightly nicer front page to it.

However, that is not yet completed, and we therefore continue with this site. Toward that end, the "From the Pulpit" pages have been updated. They were woefully outdated, and now are up to date with all the sermons preached in 2009 and 2010 (so far).

FALL BACK!!!

Don't forget to set your clocks back 1 hour tonight! You might miss the Sunday School hour!

Bowling

Here are a few reminders from our bowling outing a couple weeks ago. Isn't it great how believers can enjoy activities like this together? By the way, the next such activity is coming up shortly in March - Game Night in Fellowship Hall.

And if you didn't catch our champions in that slideshow, here they are. Trophies were awarded for best game for men, women, and children.

God Builds His Church

You haven't seen much activity on the church website lately, and for that I apologize. But don't take that as an indication that God has stopped working around here! On the contrary, so much is going on that my head is spinning. God didn't stop doing great things when He finished the Bible. He still works today. "The God that did, DOES. The God that was, IS!"

So let me share a bit about what's happened here in recent days, just in case you've been missing out on this exciting little corner of His kingdom.

Starting with the very best - in January, God let us rejoice with 7 of His who followed Jesus' example in baptism. Check it out:

February, traditionally the yuckiest month of the year, we decided to brighten things up and dispel the gloom. First, on Valentines Day we brightened the worship service with everybody wearing something RED. It was Red Heart Sunday, and after the RED worship service, we enjoyed a luncheon in fellowship hall. Check it out:

If that wasn't enough, on February 20th we met at Kent Lanes for bowling. One year ago, when we did this, a handful of people showed up. This year, 30 participated and we had a truly wonderful time.

Finally, on February 27th, 9 men met in Fellowship Hall for the first Mens' Prayer Breakfast. Some of the ladies cooked a "to die for" biscuits and gravy breakfast, Brother Jim provided refreshment from the Word, and we spent some time praying for one another and for those we love and care about. It was great, and hopefully only the first of many such gatherings. This picture doesn't do the event justice, for the food is not yet on the table, but it gives a little idea of the proceedings.

No doubt - God has been blessing here at FBC. February was a busy month. And these things are only part of what happened during the month. Zumba Classes started in February. Zumba is a Latin dance / fitness program that is being offered to our ladies (sorry guys) on Wednesday evenings after prayer meetings. Construction started in February (we always seem to be tearing something apart or building something) on the renovation of our kitchen and bathrooms.

Friendship Bible Church is a happenin' place - as God's House should be. Are you part of these things? You can be - join us each and every Lord's Day at 9:30 for Sunday School and 10:30 for Worship. Join us each and every Wednesday for prayer meeting at 6:30. And keep an eye on the church calendar (always available on the FBC Website).

You have friends at Friendship Bible Church!

Saturday Happenings

Last Saturday we had our inaugural mens' prayer breakfast and it was F A N T A S T I C! Not only does FBC have the best cooks on the planet earth, but God has brought together a great group of men as well. We ate ourselves into a coma, and then prayed ourselves into a revival. Brother Jim brought a great devotional from the Word as well.

The consensus was, "Let's do this again... and again!" So, get ready men for more biscuits and gravy (Comfort Food, as Brother Jim called it), as well as more comfort food from the word and the brethren on March 27.

THIS SATURDAY, we have yet another great opportunity to serve the Lord, at the Haven of Rest in Akron, Ohio. Meet us there at 10:00... help us as we set up, serve, and clean up. Help us help those who need it.

Paul told the Galatians, "They desired only that we should remember the poor, the very thing which I also was eager to do." (Galatians 2:10 NKJV) Let's remember them, by helping them, this Saturday. SEE YOU THERE!
