Hey... I just realized...

Tonight is the last prayer meeting before the election! I wonder if we have anything to pray about?

6:30!!

David and Bathsheba

Last week, in the stories we learned in Sunday school, we learned about what was arguably David's greatest victory, as he slew Goliath. Tonight, we will learn about what some would call his greatest failure - Bathsheba.

An interesting question would be, what role did prayer play in David's greatest victory? And what role prayerlessness in his epic fail?

Join us at 6:30 for our midweek prayer meeting!

CORRECTION, CORRECTION, CORRECTION, CORRECTION

The teen activity is to meet at the church at 1:30!!

Not at noon as mentioned in the previous post. Please pass the word along!!

Sandy is not cooperating!

Well, it looks like the weather is not going to allow us to have our Campfire Fellowship this evening, so it is CANCELED and we will reschedule it for next Saturday, same time, same place.

The teen activity is still on - meet at the church at noon.

Fire!

Don't miss out on the final Campfire Fellowship this Saturday at the Johnson home - 5:00-9:00.

Bring a chair and a dish to pass. Bring your fishing rod if you want to fish.

(NOTE - the weather forecast is not looking promising, so in the event of downpour, we will cancel and try again the following Saturday. Call the pastor if you're wondering whether the event is a go, or not.)

The Battle Is The Lord's!

Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. 47 Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 17:45-47 NKJV)

Ever wonder? When it seems like the forces of evil stand so tall, and are so powerful, do you ever wonder whether God is really in control?

Join us tonight in prayer meeting as we reread the story of David and Goliath, and are reminded once again that no giant is bigger than our God!

6:30 – Prayer Meeting in the sanctuary.

7:30 – Leadership Training Institute in Fellowship Hall.

13!

That number 13... some say it's an unlucky number. Of course, no such belief is held by the Christian, for it is silly superstition with no basis in Scripture.

But it holds some significance for us this weekend!

First, on Saturday, October 13, the brethren will gather in Fellowship Hall for another of the famous Friendship Bible Church Prayer Breakfasts!  Glory!  Hallelujah!  What a time!  Come with an empty belly and a hungry heart, and you'll leave with both full.  Brother Don will bring the devotional, and as always, the food will be wonderful.  Join us at 8:00 AM.  Bring a brother!

Second, we come to 1 Corinthians 13 this week in our ongoing series in that book.   Chapter 13 has been called the New Testament Psalm of Love.

Last, but certainly not least, at the conclusion of worship, 13 believers are scheduled to follow their Lord in baptism! Glory!  Hallelujah! What a time!  Come and join us as we celebrate this important step in their walk with Christ.

I don't now about you... but I think 13 is an absolutely wonderful number!

Remember... we don't say it enough... You Have Friends At Friendship Bible Church!

Gideon's Fleece

Join your brothers and sisters for prayer meeting this evening at 6:30, and learn about Gideon and his fleece.

And, if you're participating in the Leadership Training Institute, you won't want to miss tonight's session on Bibliology. Join us in Fellowship Hall immediately after prayer meeting concludes.

"If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for." - Charles Haddon Spurgeon

The Art of Marriage

Good morning FBC Family,

As many of you have undoubtedly heard, FamilyLife's "Art of Marriage" is coming to Friendship Bible Church in just over two weeks. Marjie and I are hosting the event but truly, it's a video-driven event that even we will be a part of and anxious to see what we can learn to better strengthen our marriage and move towards "oneness."

Regardless of where you are this very moment in your life, marriage, or engagement, let me encourage you to pray about attending this event. In America especially, the Biblical definition of marriage is under attack and what we are called to do and be as husbands, wives, and parents. This much is for sure: Christ created the very institute of marriage, our physical bodies, our emotions, and He died on the cross because of how the original "perfect" marriage was destroyed by sin. That sacrifice represents so much and is the perfect model of how we are to love each other in marriage...sacrificially. Can you say that if Christ in Heaven above were to look at His nail-scarred hands then look down at you and yours, that He would point and say: "That's why I died." It's true. True forgiveness 2000 years ago and the model example of sacrificial love for our marriages.

Please consider joining us and other couples at The Art of Marriage. If cost is any issue, please just say so as scholarships are available. Don't hesitate another moment!
