Thirty One Prays For Thirty One Days

In prayer meeting at last evening, we began looking at 31 different ways to pray during our 31 days of prayer. We looked at 8 specific requests, which you may want to pray on your own as you think through these things. Let us pray for God's will, and let us also pray for our willingness, not only with relationship to our Phase 2 project, but in every aspect of our life.

And so we pray:

Pray for God’s will

1.) God’s will to be sought. (Not personal agendas)
Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:19)
2.) God’s will to be understood. (Understanding)
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)
3.) God’s will to be trusted. (Obedience and trust)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall 2direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
4.) God’s will to be followed. (Even when it costs)
Teach me to DO Your will, For You are my God; (Psalm 143:10)
not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, DOING the will of God from the heart (Ephesians 6:6)

Pray for Our willingness:

5.) Our willingness to pray and seek His will. (Dependence, not presumption)
READ - Joshua 9:3-14
6.) Our willingness to submit to His will. (Submission)
Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” (Matthew 26:42)
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus... (Philippians 2:5)
7.) Our willingness to INDIVIDUALLY participate in doing His will. (ME, not somebody else)
8.) Our willingness to sacrifice to accomplish His will. (Cost)
READ - 2 Samuel 24:18-25, especially vs. 24

“God... Your will: nothing more, nothing less, nothing else! Amen”

A Dose Of Baxter

... peruse well the covenant of grace which is offered thee in the gospel: understand it well.

In it God offereth, notwithstanding thy sins, to be thy reconciled God and Father in Christ, and to accept thee as a son, and an heir of heaven.

The Son offereth to be thy Saviour, to justify thee by his blood and grace, and teach thee, and govern thee as thy Head, in order to thy everlasting happiness.

The Holy Spirit offereth to be thy Sanctifier, Comforter, and Guide, to overcome all the enmity of the devil, the world, and the flesh, in order to the full accomplishment of thy salvation; nothing is expected of thee, in order to thy title to the benefits of this covenant, but deliberately, unfeignedly, entirely to consent to it... (Rev. Richard Baxter, 15th century English Puritan pastor)

So well said!

Loud Petitions With Thee Bring

"Thou art coming to a King, loud petitions with thee bring, For his grace and power are such, none can ever ask too much." – John Newton

I saw this quote recently, and it reminded me of the importance of our midweek prayer meetings. Join us Wednesdays at 6:30. Pray with us. Bring your petitions to the King.

Oh, and while we're talking about midweek activities, don't forget the FBC101 class meeting at the Clark home Tuesday at 6:30. And don't forget the men's Bible study, meeting at the Ross Ranch, Tuesdays at 6:30. And don't forget the Teen Gathering, Wednesdays after prayer meeting. And don't forget the Leadership Training Institute, Wednesdays at 7:30.

Change of location - FBC101

Our brother Tim More is in the hospital, and so we need to change the location for class which starts tomorrow, Tuesday, at 6:30. It will be at the Johnson home, 2509 New Milford Rd. So if you're planning to attend, we'll see you then!

Bring a Bible and something to write with.

Day 7

Thanks to all who participated in the annual business meeting yesterday, as we rolled out details concerning Phase 2 of the building project. We continue, now, with our commitment to pray EVERY DAY IN JANUARY for this project.

Pray for wisdom. Pray for single mindedness. Pray that God's will prevails, and that He alone gets the glory. Pray, pray, pray.

Day 4

I forgot the reminder on Day 3. Did you pray for Phase 2, anyway? If not, pray doubly today!

Pray for vision. May we get it, embrace it, and be a part of what God wants to do in Randolph!

In the meantime... Pray. Pray. Pray.
